Frequently
Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our certifications, build processes, and delivery.

1. Do your kits include the trailer or foundation?

They can. Packages may begin with a purpose-built tiny house trailer, hybrid trailer-to-site foundation, skid system, or permanent site-foundation solution. The exact foundation is selected around your project and placement plans.

2. Can I buy only the steel frame kit?

Yes. Precision cold-formed steel framing can be provided as part of a larger package or as a structural kit for qualified projects. Foundation, subfloor, framing, and shell components can be combined based on your needs.

3. Are the components pre-cut and labeled?

Steel frame packages are precision manufactured for the approved design and may include labeled wall, roof, and loft components with project documentation. The exact deliverables will be listed in your proposal.

4. Do you provide floor plans?

We can work from proven layouts, customer concepts, or project-specific plans. Final design and engineering requirements depend on the size, foundation, intended use, and local approval path.

5. Can I customize the kit?

Yes. Size, width, roof style, lofts, windows, doors, framing, foundation configuration, and shell level can be customized within engineering and manufacturing limits.

6. Do you ship nationwide?

Yes. Pickup and nationwide delivery are available. Wide-load permits, escort requirements, site access, and freight costs vary by project and destination.

7. How long does production take?

Lead times depend on current scheduling, design readiness, materials, package complexity, and project size. Your proposal will include the estimated production timeline.

8. What tools and skills will I need?

That depends on the package. A foundation-only or frame-kit project requires more construction knowledge and equipment than a weather-tight shell. Customers should realistically assess their carpentry, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, safety, and project-management abilities.

9. Are electrical, plumbing, and interior finishes included?

Not unless specifically listed. DIY packages commonly leave mechanical systems and interior finishes to the owner-builder. Every proposal clearly identifies what our team will provide.

10. Will the kit meet code in my area?

Building, zoning, placement, certification, and inspection requirements vary by jurisdiction and intended use. Customers must confirm local requirements. We can provide the structural information associated with the package and discuss common approval paths.

11. Do you offer a warranty?

Trailer Made foundation systems include our applicable lifetime foundation warranty. Warranty coverage for other components depends on the specific product and manufacturer terms listed with the project.

12. How do I get started?

Send us your intended size, location, foundation preference, floor plan, timeline, delivery needs, and budget range. A Tiny House Expert will help you identify the best starting package.
